WHERE the ARTIST/DESIGNER WAS BORN & RAISED:
The artist/designer DAVID JACQUES D'GOLD was born and raised in California amidst villages and townships outside of the San Francisco Greater Bay Area, growing up with one older and four younger brothers.
ART & FORMAL EDUCATION/CAREER:
Midstream during the artist's six years of formal college and university studies he received and accepted a full academic scholarship to attend a large private university where he continued his studies in many varied aspects of art and design with an evolved major in the principles of industrial design. He received three BA degrees with a major in Manufacturing Industrial Design (BA of Fine Arts) and minor BA in Art, and BA in Graphic Design.
His twenty five year career as a professional industrial designer consisted of working for differing types of manufacturing companies (mostly imaging giants). The artist/designer was employed primarily in New York State, some in the Midwestern States and several times in Southern California. After gaining sufficient experiences in the process of industrial design as an employee, he ventured out on his own as a professional industrial design consultant practicing for many years. Concurrently, he was an adjunct professor at Rochester Institute of Technology, Art Center College of Design and The Academy of Art.
RETIRED EARLY AND BEGAN HOBBY IN ART DRAWING :
The ever increasing outsourcing of U.S. manufacturing jobs over the past many decades to foreign countries, to include his career of supplying consulting industrial design services resulted in a growing unstable client base for him to operate in. After twenty-five years of practicing as a professional industrial designer, out of necessity, the artist/designer disappointedly left his career in Industrial Design.
Jacques D'Gold invented a new career for himself that was purposely, totally free of any manufactured products that would be outsourced by manufacturing companies that too often did not appreciate his talent, skill and successful track record in facilitating the top selling of products. Thus in order to feel productive, he continued producing hand drawn industrial design concepts -- yet this time it was of international brands of classic motorcars in artwork.
Thus out of necessity, he transformed himself into becoming a classical artist, with hand drawn artistry of period style, residential architectural illustrations with elaborate backgrounds showcasing international prestige classic motorcar designs and popular domestic models. Thereby leveraging his life long, highly developed skills of conceptualizing visual imagery by hand drawing into envisioned ideas and enveloping his love affair with period, residential architecture and classic motorcar design.
ORIGINS OF ARTWORK GENRE of HOLLYWOOD CAR ART.COM
The artist/designer of HollywoodCarArt.com began with hand drawings designing architectural elevation residential house facades depicting nostalgic, period fashionable home styles of the eighteenth and nineteenth century influenced by English, French, Italian and Colonial Period America. Secondly he progressed into drawing, his favorite prestigious, vintage antique/classic motorcar designs from the 1930's Great Depression Era to match the period house facades. Thirdly he created backdrops in a theatrical stage, set-designing fashion with background scenery, environments of French, Italian, English and American Colonial period style through a multiplicity of techniques in hand-drawn artwork.
He is now, not only showcases hundreds of automobile drawings depicting classic motorcar models from the 1930s, 1940s, 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, he has expanded the automobile repertoire of model years and brands to include various popular international models, up to the present today, in international, luxury and super-sports models.
ORIGINS of the "HOLLYWOOD" CONNECTION
HollywoodCarArt.com
A decade ago, the artist/designer of HollywoodCarArt.com had experienced while selling small, framed artwork of his Duesenberg classic cars, an enthusiastic response to the often connection between the various Duesenberg Model J cars to Hollywood celebrities like Clark Gable, Gary Cooper and Greta Garbo. This is where the idea of "HOLLYWOOD CAR ART" came from, and now generally every automobile make and model he has hand drawn is somehow associated with some major or lesser known Motion Picture Films or Television Series, and in some cases the car is or was owned by a famous celebrities in the Entertainment Industry.

He enjoys spending winters in the Southwestern states. He has a son and daughter with grandchildren spread out across the United States.
DEMONSTRATED TALENT IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL:
In the third grade his teacher saw artistic talent in him and commissioned him to paint large holiday murals on white butcher paper with poster paints to be displayed around the class room. At the age of eight he had become very proficient in shadowing techniques as having been made aware of in Walt Disney animated movies and popular cartoons on television. As he trained himself artistically to render showing light and shadow as to denote three dimensional form in colored crayons first and then quickly progressed to other mediums.
STARTED DRAWING CARS AT AGE THIRTEEN:
When the artist was thirteen years of age, his mother purchased a ream of 11x17" white paper at the Big Red Barn Flee-Market on Highway 101 in Aromas, California (a common photo copying size). The chosen medium to draw with was acquired colored pencils, as this was the medium that his mother used for landscape drawing in art class in high school.
CONTINUAL USE OF NEW TYPES OF ARTIST MATERIALS & PROCESSES:
The young teenage artist chose to draw side views of popular automobiles as seen in magazines such as popular models from Chevrolet, Pontiac, Buick, Cadillac, Ford, Lincoln, Chrysler, Imperial, Dodge, Rolls Royce and Jaguar, in middle school and throughout high school, drawing cars in colored pencil. As an adult, during his stay in Sacramento, and afterwards, he continued his car drawings progressing into drawing 1930s Duesenberg and Packard models progressing into use of colored pastel to emphasize shadowing, and use of watercolors and markers.
